What’s this? Where am I?

This is a blog, and that blog is about me. Hurray! And, as you might have guessed, it’s about Ireland as well, which is even better.

I’m Femke – a 28 year-old Dutch archaeologist living in Dublin. I moved there in 2016, when I was fed up with my home country (just kidding…or am I?). I had been to Ireland many times before, and fell in love with the island almost instantly, so after I graduated I decided to try my luck abroad.

I started writing a blog about my adventures , and my observations on the Irish people and their habits, for family and friends back home, and only recently decided it might be fun to translate the posts in English. Since I’ve been away for almost 4 years, lately the blog has veered away from just observations on the Irish to thoughts about the Dutch as well. Moving abroad makes even your home country a bit foreign to you, sometimes.

I’ll try to translate my old blog posts one by one, hopefully posting one every week and keeping up with my Dutch site (which you can find here).
